For over 50 years, Amherst Veterinary Hospital has been providing veterinary services in Scarborough, Toronto, and the surrounding area. We offer comprehensive pet care for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, rabbits, ferrets and other small mammals.

Our veterinarians are experienced and trained to treat and handle pets of various species. They are constantly trained on the most recent medical industry techniques, use safe and proven procedures in a sterile environment, and have access to modern veterinary equipment.

Meet Our Team

Veterinarian

Dr. Lauren Monaco

Dr. Lauren Monaco was born and raised in Toronto. She completed her DVM degree from Ross University in St. Kitts, West Indies, and her clinical year of vet school at Purdue University in Indiana. Before this Dr. Monaco achieved her Bachelor's of Science at the University of Toronto, and a Master's of Science in Biology at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Dr. Monaco has a passion for small animal, exotics, and pocket pet medicine, and a special interest in canine/ feline dentistry.

Dr. Monaco enjoys spending time with her coconut retriever Bosco, her kitty Beans, and her family dog, Amore.

Veterinarian

Dr. Kiana Parsaie

Dr. Kiana Parsaie graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical year at Louisiana State University. Prior to this she completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Guelph.

Dr. Kiana has a passion for reptiles, exotic mammals, and felines with a special interest in behaviour and soft tissue surgery. Dr. Kiana is Fear Free certified and is a member of the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians (ARAV) and Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians (AEMV).

Outside of work, Dr. Kiana enjoys reading and spending time with her coconut retriever Maya, her 3 cats Akira, Layla and Jude, her eastern box turtle Henry and western hognose Sal.

Office Manager

Denise

Denise has been with Amherst Veterinary Hospital since 2001. When she is not at the front desk welcoming both clients and their pets, you can find her cheering on the Blue Jays or playing softball with friends.

Denise is a proud mom of two boys who are all grown up now but you will have to listen to her boast about them.

Veterinary Technician

Victoria

Victoria is a Registered Veterinary Technician who started at Amherst in 2015 as an Animal Care Attendant and joined us as a Technician in 2021 after graduating from Seneca College. She discovered a major passion for wildlife rehabilitation after working at Toronto Wildlife Centre.

She continues to volunteer with wildlife, rescues raccoons in her spare time and dreams of opening her own wildlife rehab centre one day. When she is not at the clinic you can find her roller skating, spending time with her two cats, hiking & camping in Algonquin Park.

Chantelle

Chantelle has been an animal care attendant at Amherst Veterinary Hospital since 2017. In Chantelle's free time they enjoy hanging out with their dog, boa constrictor, and two cats.

Chantelle plans to seek additional education in the field of herpetology in the hopes of expanding their scaled family.

Taylor has been an animal care attendant at Amherst Veterinary Hospital since 2019. When Taylor is not at work you can find her spending time with her two dogs and nieces.

In the future Taylor hopes to own a pack of large dogs. If Taylor could own a giraffe, she would.

Jalen

Jalen graduated with a Veterinary Assistant degree from Seneca College. Jalen enjoys interacting with patients and clients. Jalen has worked in both emergency and general practice settings as an animal care attendant, most recently working at Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Toronto prior to Amherst Veterinary Hospital. Jalen hopes to become a veterinary technician in the near future.

Jade

Jade graduated from Northern College with a Veterinary Assistant and Grooming degree. She has a love for all animals and will be going to school for her Registered Veterinary Technician degree. Jade is a proud owner of two toy poodles named Niko and Gizmo, a Husky-Shepherd mix named Rory, a cockatiel named Cookie, an African Grey named Rio, and six baby chicks. If she could, she would raise and own a group of foxes.
Animal Care Attendant

Em

Em has worked as an animal care attendant since November 2022 and recently joined the Amherst Veterinary Hospital team in December 2023. Em has a love for all animals, whether they're furred, scaled, or feathered! Em has two cats, Alex and Dusty, and a leopard gecko named Lily. Em has an educational background in mental health and is always happy to step in and help support pet parents during difficult times. Em will be continuing their studies this fall as a Registered Veterinary Technician at Seneca College.
